The Actors Equity Association (AEA) is an American labor union representing the world of live theatrical performance. Actors' Equity Association was formally recognized on July 18, 1919 by the American Federation of Labor (later to become the AFL-CIO). In 1919 Actors Equity called the first strike in American theater history.
